Overview
Manali to Chandigarh is about 290–305 km, usually 7 to 9 hours by taxi down the Kullu valley, through Mandi and out of the hills on the Kiratpur four-lane. It's the most common way home from a Manali holiday, and it's quicker downhill than the climb up. Many travellers time it to catch an evening flight or train from Chandigarh; if you do, leave Manali by 7 am and allow buffer for the Mandi–Kullu stretch, which can slow suddenly after rain.
