Overview
Chandigarh to Naina Devi is roughly 105–115 km by road, usually 2½ to 3 hours by taxi through Ropar and Kiratpur Sahib, with the last 18 km climbing the hill to the temple. Shri Naina Devi Ji is one of Himachal's most visited Shakti Peeths, set on a ridge in Bilaspur district at about 1,177 m, looking down over the Govind Sagar reservoir. Most families do it as a long day trip from the Tricity, or as the first stop on a Devi darshan circuit that continues to Chintpurni and Jwalamukhi. We pick you up anywhere in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula, and the driver waits while you have darshan.

Driving tips for this route
- 1Leave early on Sundays and festival days: the hill road above Kiratpur slows to a crawl once the parking fills.
- 2The last stretch is narrow with hairpins. An SUV or Innova is more comfortable for elderly passengers than a small car.
- 3Parking is below the temple; from there it's a climb on foot or a short ropeway ride to the top.
- 4Carry cash for parking, prasad and the ropeway; mobile signal is patchy on the hill.
- 5Combine with Anandpur Sahib: it's only a short detour on the way and makes the day worthwhile for Sikh and Hindu pilgrims alike.

Darshan at Naina Devi: timings, ropeway and crowds
The temple trust's listing gives darshan from about 4 am to 10 pm on normal days, and much longer during the Navratris, when the temple opens from around 2 am. Different sources list slightly different hours, so we confirm the timings with the trust for your date.
There is a ropeway from the lower parking area to the temple. Its hours are seasonal, roughly 8 am to 7 pm in the warmer months and shorter in winter, and it stops in bad weather. If you prefer to walk, the stepped path is steep but well used, and there are shops and resting points along the way.
Weekends, and especially Sundays, are the busiest days. If you can, visit on a weekday morning; you'll get through the queue faster and be back in Chandigarh by mid-afternoon.
- Shoes are left outside the main shrine; there are paid shoe stands near the entrance.
- Leather items are best left in the car.
- Keep a small bag only: security checks are quicker without large luggage.
Making it a Devi darshan trip
Naina Devi is the natural first stop on the Himachal Devi darshan circuit. From here, Chintpurni is roughly 110–115 km away via Una, and Jwalamukhi about 35 km beyond Chintpurni. Many families do Naina Devi on day one, stay near Chintpurni, and continue to Jwalamukhi, Kangra's Brajeshwari Devi and Chamunda Devi over the next two days.
If you'd like the same car and driver for the whole circuit, book it as a multi-day trip. The driver waits at each temple, knows the parking areas and walking distances, and you avoid arranging a new taxi in each town.
