Overview
Chintpurni to Jwalamukhi is only about 33–35 km, roughly an hour by taxi, which makes it the shortest and easiest leg of the Himachal Devi darshan. The road drops from Chintpurni's ridge at about 978 m into the Kangra district to Jwalamukhi at about 610 m, where the temple's natural flames are worshipped as the goddess Jwala Ji. Most pilgrims have early darshan at Chintpurni, drive over mid-morning, and reach Jwalamukhi before the short midday closure. We can pick you up from your Chintpurni hotel or the bus stand, wait at Jwalamukhi, and continue to Kangra or Dharamshala.

Jwalamukhi timings to plan around
According to the Kangra temples administration, Jwalamukhi opens at about 6 am in summer and 7 am in winter, closes briefly around midday, and stays open until about 10 pm in summer and 9:30 pm in winter. Aarti is around 6 am and 8 pm in summer, and 7 am and 7 pm in winter.
Because of the midday break, a mid-morning drive from Chintpurni is ideal. If you arrive during the closure, there's time for lunch in town before the temple reopens.
After Jwalamukhi: the rest of the Kangra circuit
From Jwalamukhi, Brajeshwari Devi in Kangra town and Chamunda Devi near Dharamshala complete the classic five-temple yatra. Baglamukhi temple at Bankhandi is also close. With the same car for the day you can see two more temples and be in Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj by evening, or at Kangra airport for a flight.
- Two temples in a day is comfortable; three is possible with an early start.
- Tell us about elderly or less mobile travellers so we plan the closest drop points.
- The driver can hold bags safely in the car during darshan.
