Overview
A short weekend yatra to three of the most visited shrines in the lower Himachal hills. You climb to Naina Devi on its hilltop above the Gobind Sagar lake, travel through the Hamirpur hills to the cave temple of Baba Balak Nath at Deotsidh, and end at Chintpurni, the shrine of Maa Chhinnamastika. Nights are in simple hotels close to the temples so you can be in the queue early. The drives are short and the pace is easy.

The three shrines
Naina Devi stands on a hill above the Gobind Sagar reservoir and is one of the Shakti Peeths. Baba Balak Nath is a revered child saint worshipped across Himachal and Punjab, and his cave at Deotsidh draws huge crowds on Sundays. Chintpurni, in the Una hills, is the shrine of the goddess Chhinnamastika.
Planning darshan
Sundays and festival days bring the longest queues. Arriving the evening before and joining the queue early is the best way to avoid waits of several hours. Your driver will know the current timings and parking arrangements.
Who this suits
Families and small groups from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana who want a short pilgrimage weekend with a private car.
Getting there and back
The route forms a loop from Chandigarh: north-west through Ropar and Anandpur Sahib to Naina Devi, then into the Hamirpur hills to Deotsidh, west to Chintpurni in Una district, and back to Chandigarh through Una and Nangal. Most of the road is good, with a few narrow hill sections near the temples. Your driver will handle parking, which is limited near all three shrines on busy days.
If you're coming from Delhi, take the morning train to Chandigarh or ask us to start from Delhi; it adds about 250 km each way. From Punjab cities such as Ludhiana or Jalandhar, the drive to Naina Devi is shorter, and we can start there instead.
Practical tips for the yatra
Carry a small bag for shoes and offerings, some cash for prasad and donations, and drinking water. Queues can be long in summer heat; a cap or umbrella helps. Elderly travellers can use the ropeway at Naina Devi and ask about wheelchair help at Chintpurni. Keep valuables to a minimum, because temples are crowded and lockers are limited.
Combining with other temples
With a fourth day, add Jwalamukhi and Brajeshwari in Kangra; with two more, our five-day Devi darshan covers Chamunda and Baijnath too. Many families do the short yatra first and the longer one on a later visit, when they have more time.
