Overview
The Parvati valley runs east from Bhuntar into deep pine forest under snow peaks, with Kasol, Manikaran and a string of small villages along the river. Over the years it has become a magnet for backpackers from Israel and across India, known for its cafés, walks and laid-back pace. This five-day trip spends four nights in Kasol, with days for Manikaran's hot springs and gurdwara, Chalal and Rasol, and the villages at the head of the road: Tosh, Kalga and Pulga. Your car handles the winding valley road so you can save your legs for the walks.

A valley of villages
Each village in the Parvati valley has its own character: Kasol is busy and full of cafés; Chalal is quieter, across the river; Manikaran is a pilgrimage town; Tosh and Kalga are small mountain villages with guesthouses and views; Pulga is the quietest of all. Four nights in Kasol let you see them all at an easy pace.
Manikaran
Manikaran's hot springs are sacred to both Sikhs and Hindus. The Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib serves free meals to all visitors from its community kitchen, and the Ram temple nearby is one of the oldest buildings in the valley. Visitors often bathe in the gurdwara's hot pools.
Who this suits
This trip suits young travellers, friends on a break, and anyone who likes walking and café life. It's less suited to people looking for snow or adventure sports; for those, our Manali packages are better.
Where to stay
Kasol has the widest choice of guesthouses and small hotels, many with gardens along the river. On the comfort tier we choose riverside cottages with more space and quieter rooms. If you'd rather stay up the valley, a night in Tosh or Kalga can replace one Kasol night; the rooms there are simpler, but the views and the silence are hard to beat.

- Malana village, across the valley, has strict customs about touching people and property; visits are not part of this trip.
- Walk only on well-used trails and tell someone your plans; people have gone missing in the upper valley.
When to go

- Fine, check weather
- • March to June and September to November are the best months.
