Overview
Mandi to Jibhi is roughly 70–72 km, usually 2 to 2½ hours by taxi: about 40 km up the Beas through Pandoh to Aut, then about 31 km up the narrow Banjar valley road through Banjar town to Jibhi. It's the shortest way into Jibhi from the south, and many travellers coming from Chandigarh or Delhi by bus get off at Mandi or Aut and take a taxi from there. Jibhi is a small village at roughly 1,600 m with wooden homestays among cedar forest, a waterfall and easy walks, with Jalori Pass about 12 km above. We pick you up from your Mandi hotel, the bus stand or IIT Mandi, and drop you at your Jibhi homestay or as close as the road allows.

Driving tips for this route
- 1The first 40 km to Aut are on the main Manali highway; after Aut, the Banjar road is narrow and slow.
- 2Leave Mandi by late morning at the latest; the Banjar road is best driven in daylight.
- 3Some Jibhi homestays are a short walk downhill from the road; tell us yours so we know where to stop.
- 4In winter, Jalori Pass above Jibhi often closes after snow, but Jibhi itself usually stays reachable.
- 5Coming off an overnight bus? We can meet you at Mandi bus stand early in the morning.

Getting to Jibhi by bus and taxi
Overnight buses from Delhi and Chandigarh to Manali stop at Mandi and Aut. Getting off at Mandi in the early morning and taking a taxi to Jibhi is often easier than waiting for a local bus at Aut, especially with luggage. If you're arriving on an overnight bus, share the bus name and expected time and the driver will meet you at the stand.
If you've driven yourself as far as Mandi, we can also drive you up and back, since the Banjar road is narrow and unfamiliar for drivers from the plains.
What to do in Jibhi
Jibhi is a place to slow down. Walk to Jibhi waterfall, visit the old wooden temples in nearby villages, and take the short drive and walk to Chehni Kothi, a tall stone-and-timber tower. Jalori Pass, at around 3,100 m, is about 12 km above Jibhi, and from there trails lead to Serolsar lake and the Raghupur fort ruins. The Tirthan valley, with trout farms and the Great Himalayan National Park, is just below Banjar.

Mandi, Rewalsar and Jibhi in one trip
If you have an extra day, start in Mandi with the old town temples and Rewalsar lake, about 25 km away, then drive to Jibhi the next morning. Prashar lake, about 45–50 km from Mandi, is another option, though its road is narrow and the lake area can be snowbound in winter. With one car for the trip, the driver handles every leg.
The Banjar valley road
From Aut, the road follows the Tirthan river past Larji, then climbs through Banjar on a narrow, winding two-lane road with few passing places. It's well used by local buses and homestay guests, but slow, so allow about an hour for the last 31 km. Our drivers know where the homestay turn-offs are, which matters because many aren't signposted.
