Overview
Manali to Jibhi is about 100–105 km, usually 3½ to 4 hours by taxi: down the Kullu valley past Bhuntar to the Aut tunnel, then about 28–31 km up the narrow Banjar valley road to Jibhi. It's a favourite combination for travellers who want Manali's snow and adventure followed by a few quiet days in Jibhi's wooden homestays, with Jalori Pass and Serolsar lake above. The last stretch is slow and winding, so it's best driven in daylight. We pick you up in Manali and take you to your Jibhi homestay, or as close as the road allows.

Driving tips for this route
- 1Leave Manali by mid-morning to reach Jibhi in daylight; the Banjar road is narrow.
- 2Aut is the last big town for fuel and ATMs; Banjar has basics.
- 3Larger vehicles are slow on the Banjar road; an SUV is the practical choice.
- 4Some homestays are a short walk above the road; send us the name so we know where to stop.
- 5In the monsoon, check the Aut–Banjar road the evening before; slides are common.

Why travellers pair Manali with Jibhi
Manali is busy, with snow points, cafés and adventure sports. Jibhi is the opposite: a small village in cedar forest, with a waterfall, river walks and old wooden temples. Many travellers spend three or four days in Manali and then two or three in Jibhi before heading home via Aut to Chandigarh or Delhi, which is no further than leaving from Manali.
From Jibhi, Jalori Pass is about 12 km uphill at around 3,100 m, and the Serolsar lake walk starts there. Chehni Kothi, a tall old tower, is a short drive and walk away. Keep the car for a day if you'd like to see them.
Going home from Jibhi
Jibhi is close to the main highway at Aut, so it's an easy last stop on the way out. Chandigarh is about 265–270 km away and Delhi about 500 km. We can book Manali to Jibhi now and the onward trip from Jibhi later, or plan it as one multi-day trip with the same driver.
- Manali to Jibhi: about 3½–4 hours.
- Jibhi to Chandigarh: about 6½–8 hours.
- Jibhi to Delhi: about 11–13 hours.
Where to stay in Jibhi
Jibhi's appeal is its stays: wooden homestays and small guesthouses set among cedar forest and orchards, many with balconies over the stream. Some sit right on the road; others are up a path through the trees, a few minutes' walk from where a car can stop. Banjar town, about 8 km before Jibhi, has simple hotels if you prefer to stay on the main road, and the Tirthan valley nearby has riverside stays close to the Great Himalayan National Park.
Book ahead for weekends and holidays; Jibhi is small and fills quickly.
What the Banjar road is like
After the Aut tunnel, the road to Banjar and Jibhi climbs steadily alongside a forested stream. It's narrower than the Manali highway, with tight bends and passing places, and slower for large vehicles. In good weather it's an easy, pretty drive; in the monsoon, watch for small slides.
