Overview
The snow trip for people who don't want to drive all the way to Manali. Shimla itself gets snow on a few days most winters, but Kufri, 16 km away, and Narkanda, 65 km away at about 2,700 m, get much more. This four-day package stays in Shimla for the town and the Ridge, then spends a night in Narkanda, where the slopes above town are used for skiing and the deodar forests turn white. The plan adapts each morning to where the snow is and which roads are open.

Winter driving
Roads around Shimla and Narkanda are cleared quickly after snow, but closures of a few hours are common. Our drivers carry chains and know the alternatives. On the coldest mornings, black ice makes early drives slow; we leave a little later when that's safer.
Keeping warm
Pack thermals, a warm jacket, a woollen cap, gloves and waterproof shoes. Hotel rooms in Shimla's older buildings can be chilly; electric heaters are usually provided, and the comfort tier has better central heating.
Who this suits
This trip suits families and groups from Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab who want snow within a short drive, and visitors who've never seen snow and want a gentle first experience. It's shorter and cheaper than going to Manali, and the drives are easy. For deeper snow and a bigger mountain feel, our Manali snow package is the alternative.
Ski courses at Narkanda run in some winters when the snow is good; ask us when you book and we'll check what's on.
