In Kasauli town
- Christ Church: Kasauli's landmark, an Anglican stone church with its foundation laid in 1844 and first services held in 1853. Its tower clock, from the 1880s, was restored in 2015.
- The Mall and Lower Mall: short, quiet streets of old shops, bakeries and colonial bungalows, best walked slowly.
- Monkey Point: the highest point in Kasauli, about 4 km from the centre, with a Hanuman temple and views as far as Chandigarh on a clear night. It's inside an Air Force station.
- Sunset Point: a viewpoint looking out over the plains, at its best in the hour before dusk.
- Gilbert Trail: a narrow forest path along the edge of the ridge, with sweeping views; one of Kasauli's best walks.
- The Central Research Institute: founded in 1904 as the Pasteur Institute of India, a historic vaccine institute you can see from outside.
- Kasauli Club: a private club dating from 1880, part of the town's colonial character.
Monkey Point: what to know
Because Monkey Point lies inside an Air Force station, entry is controlled: you'll need photo ID, phones and cameras may have to be deposited at the gate, and the point can be closed on some days or at short notice for security. Opening hours are limited to daytime. It's a short climb from the gate to the temple at the top. Check locally on the day before planning around it.
